Yesterday, a friend and I went to the Lindor Reynolds’ Garden Party. Lindor Reynolds is a Winnipeg public figure and journalist, currently fighting brain cancer. Lindor chose to focus on raising funds to build a school in Kenya, in order to focus on something positive, rather than focusing on her illness. The Garden Party was a successful fundraiser to help Lindor acquire enough funds to build a new school in Kenya. Lindor is partnering with Craig Kielburger and the Free the Children charity. The Garden Party featured a “brick wall”. Everyone attending was given a large, rectangular “sticky” on which to write his or her name and then stick it on a “brick”. It was also possible to purchase individual “bricks” for $20.00.The room was decorated in an African Safari theme (Creating a Scene, Winnipeg). It was a lovely, emotional and inspiring event.
